“Why did LeBron dunk on you like that?”

“Why did LeBron dunk on you like that?”

He’s an NBA champion with the Mavericks. He was the league’s Sixth Man of the Year in ’09. For so long, he’s been one of the best shooters in the association. And yet, most remember Jason Terry for one thing – getting dunked on by LeBron James.

The worst thing about it is, every time I’m in arenas, or I’m at the grocery store, little kids come up to me, ‘Ay, Ay, aren’t you Jason Terry?‘ Yeah yeah, that’s me. ‘Why did Lebron dunk on you like that?‘”

Little kids, with no regard for Terry’s life! And little do they know that James throwing it down on The Jet was him getting his revenge for all the smack-talk Jason directed at him. It all started in ’11 when Terry announced himself a mismatch for James, saying LBJ wouldn’t be able to guard him throughout the entirety of the Finals.

I’m welcoming the challenge. We’re going to see if he can do it for seven games.

What happened in that series only added fuel to the fire, as Terry’s nonstop motion tired out the Heat superstar, initiating the biggest meltdown in LeBron’s NBA career. J.T. finished the series strong offensively, and LBJ was labeled as a chocker and a guy who can’t get it done on NBA’s biggest stage. So with a ring to his name, Terry’s continued the talk. In the midst of Miami’s 27-game win streak in ’13, after the Heat had won their 22nd game in a row, and were about to face the Boston Celtics, The Jet talked down on their historic achievement, saying that he ‘isn’t really impressed with it or anything that they do.’

I’m sure he said the same after LeBron dunked in his face and gave him a staredown afterward. And you could see it by the bench’s reaction that this was personal for James. He had waited for such an opportunity for years, and on March 18, 2013, he finally got his revenge.

I’ve had a chance to review it, and it was one of my better ones. The fact that it happened to J.T. made it that much sweeter. Because we all know J.T. and he talks too much sometimes. And I’m glad it happened to him.

Terry never talked trash to LeBron again. All he did afterward was talk about him, trying to justify getting dunked on by a 6-8 freight train. And after hearing about this, I’m sure those little kids will all come up with the same conclusion – The Jet had it coming.
