WHEN LILLARD SURPRISED KIDS WITH FREE KICKS “Five pairs of shoes each. Grab whatever y’all want”⁣

Back in ’18, Damian Lillard backed up a U-Haul truck to a city park in Portland and handed out free shoes. Dame announced his arrival on social media, and the response has been incredible. According to NASCAR writer Jeff Gluck, Lillard also signed autographs for the fans in attendance.

This was a great act of kindness by the Trail Blazers‘ superstar. A perfect way of giving back to his community, showing appreciation for never-ending support shown by Portland fans. And what better way to do it than putting a smile on kids’ faces.

Well, in ’19, Dame did it again. Only this time, his act of kindness was more on a random side. While in the Adidas store, Lillard encountered a family with two kids and offered to buy them five pairs of shoes each. Oh, and he didn’t put a price limit on the purchase. Just a week earlier, Dame had inked on a $196 million supermax extension, and he was in the middle of his Adidas deal, worth up to $100 million. So buying ten pairs of shoes wasn’t a problem for Lillard.

But this wasn’t about the money nor about the worth of the shopping cart. This was about the act itself. And the best thing about it is that it was completely random. Dame himself confirmed it via his social media account.

An incredible gesture by Lillard, proving that NBA hardwoods aren’t the only place he is making a difference.
