Walton coaching the Suns?

f the Los Angeles Lakers separate from head coach Luke Walton at the end of the season, the 38-year-old could attract the interest of several franchises. According to a media report, the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers are very interested in his services.

In early March, Marc Stein of the New York Times announced that Coach Walton’s time at the Lakers would be “almost certainly” over after the end of the season. Also, Martin Rogers of USA Today and Sean Deveney of Sporting News reported that much points are in favor of dismissal of Walton.

Lakers are clearly lagging behind expectations in its first year with LeBron James, and they are probably going to miss the playoffs. However, this does not seem to change anything about the high interest in Walton within the NBA.

An anonymous source told Deveney that Walton is considered a potential top candidate for the Suns if Phoenix part ways with head coach Igor Kokoskov. The Suns have not decided yet whether the Serb will be a head coach in the following NBA season.

Also, Deveney also throws the Cleveland Cavaliers as a potential franchise, where Walton could land. In his third year as head coach of the Lakers, Walton stands at a total of 92 wins and 141 defeats. Previously, he worked as Assistant Coach at the Warriors.
