Going into the 1988 NBA All-Star game, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar needed 9 points to become the event's all-time leading scorer. And he did. In 14 minutes of action, KAT had 10 points to give him 247 career All-Star Game points.
Still, it was Michael Jordan who stole the show despite Jabbar's play for the record books.
MJ took home the MVP award after putting up 40 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 blocks in the East's 138-133 win over the West. He scored 16 points in the final 5:30 of the game and finished the contest two points shy of Wilt Chamberlain's (then) single-game All-Star scoring record.
The game was the cherry on top of MJ's already iconic All-Star Weekend -- he won the Dunk Contest after an epic duel with Dominique Wilkins. Larry Bird was the one who took home his third 3-point shootout title.
But the star of the event was, without a doubt, No.23. The same goes for this NBA 2K23 Jordan challenge.
