The recent altercation Russell Westbrook had with a Utah Jazz fan brought a lot of media attention and attention in general around the league and among players. Many of them showed support for Westbrook and made a strong statement fan like those shouldn’t be allowed to the games in the first place.
During the NBA’s TNT show Tip-Off, one of the former bad boys in the league Charles Barley reflected on the altercations and fights he had with fans during his long an illustrious career and according to Barkley, there were several of them.
Barkey also said he doesn’t trust the judicial system in America and how he regrets his former actions now that he is older and more mature. In regards to Russell Westbrook and his altercation with the fan, Barkley truly believes Westbrook now regrets his action.
I want to make it clear, I was wrong. I have been arrested I think four times for hitting fans. I was wrong. But I was never convicted because I settled. I can’t trust the judicial system in America. I’m more mature now and I was wrong. At the time I felt like I was right and I know Russ thought at the time he was right but there is no good ending. If I hit one of those people and hurt them badly. Thank goodness I never hurt anybody. I felt like at the moment I was mad but now that I am older and mature I was wrong.
