Stephen A. Smith: “Some people close to Jeanie Buss are telling her to trade Lebron James.”

There is a certain group of players in the NBA that you can mark as untradeable, and LeBron James has definitely been on top of that list through his career. But it seems his status has changed as his career is slowly winding down.

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Jeanie Buss, the president of the Los Angeles Lakers is being told by people close to her to put LeBron James on the trading block (via ESPN):

“Nothing is out of bounds right now. We don’t know what the hell is going on in Los Angeles,” Smith said. “You’ve got folks close to Jeanie Buss imploring her to trade LeBron James. He does not have a no-trade clause and now you haven’t given him the coach that he wanted.”

This would be a drastic turn of events, as trading a name as LeBron James would definitely be the sports story of the year. But still, this is very hard to expect from them to do.

Although the Lakers didn’t make the playoffs their first season with LeBron on the team, he still has a lot of gas left in the tank and is still one of the best players in the NBA, as they still need him to build a team around him that could possibly be a contender.

It will be interesting to see what the Lakers management will do over the next period regarding firstly finding a new coach, after firing Luke Walton and breaking down negotiations with Tyron Lue and deciding which players they will keep and get for next season.

A clean house in the front office and complete reconstruction of the roster could be a big possibility. We can only wait and see.
