Shaq thinks it’s a championship or bust if James Harden doesn’t step up for the Nets

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal made a guest appearance on First Take, where he talked about various NBA related topics. He touched upon the Brooklyn Nets and their current situation, which in his opinion, is a championship or bust after forming a team with Durant, Harden, and Irving. According to Shaq, most pressure is on Harden, who has yet to prove he can win a championship, something Durant and Irving already did in their careers.

KD knows what it takes to win championships, so does Kyrie. James hasn’t been there yet, and it’s time for him to get a championship. He is not a young player, and this is not his first or second year: championship or bust.

Shaq is known as someone who will freely speak about anything that is on his mind, and he is not afraid of criticizing players if he thinks they deserve it. Having that type of talent on one squad in Shaq’s eyes means they need to win immediately, and everything less than that he will consider a disappointment.

James has a problem with what I said. He hasn’t stepped up yet. All that talk, we should be uplifting brothers and all that. I uplift my brothers by telling them the truth. I’m not a yes man. You ain’t show up yet; you gotta win a championship. You are supposed to make it to the finals, and you are also supposed to win. I wanna see some people win. I wish them well, and I hope they win, but if they don’t win a championship this year, it’s a bust.

It will definitely take some time for this team to build chemistry; however, they have plenty of talent and players who know how to win championships. It will be interesting to see what kind of sacrifice they will make on an individual level to make this work because their success will largely depend on it.
