After spending two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers with whom he won an NBA championship, Rajon Rondo is now ready for the next step in his career. He signed a two-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks to serve as a mentor to Trae Young and try to help the team make the playoffs for the first time in several years. Rondo was also a crucial piece for the Lakers in their championship run, and his experience and knowledge was an essential part of that success.
Rondo felt at home with the Lakers franchise, so he decided to post a goodbye message in which he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity he was presented in the last two years. Before joining the Lakers, Rondo wasn’t one of the most popular players in the NBA circles, and his career was in jeopardy. However, it seems the 34-year-old regained the respect he deserves and is now ready for a new challenge with the Hawks.
Thank you to the Lakers organization, Jeanie and Rob for giving me the opportunity to play for an incredible franchise. The professionalism and support from Frank, the coaching staff, and support staff is something I’m truly grateful for. With my guys, there’s an amazing brotherhood that only we know. To the fans…thank you for welcoming me with open arms from Day 1 and showing me love. Being apart of #LakeShow was something special and I’m proud we brought it back to you!
