The biggest hype surrounding free agency in the past months was definitely around the possible players New York Knicks would sign. Many names were mentioned with the most prominent ones being of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately for their fans, Knicks haven’t achieved anything significant so far in the free agency and it’s quite obvious they will wait a bit longer to get back at the top of the eastern conference.
There were numerous reports on the possibility of the Knicks drafting Zion and connecting him with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving but none of that came to happen. It definitely served as a reality check for their management and the fans who will have to wait for another couple of years before Knicks can be capable of making it into the playoffs.
During ESPN’s show “Get Up” former player raised an interesting thought on the main reason behind Knicks inability to get star caliber players. He believes the Knicks are no longer a popular destination in the NBA mostly because players want to play in a stable environment and to be fair, the Knicks haven’t proved themselves as a stable team for the past several years.
“Knicks fans, as much as I can’t stand you understand this. This might be the best thing that has happened to them. I think the Knicks as a franchise they need to grow up and need to figure out the new NBA. Stop telling people “The Garden” – no one cares about that anymore. Guys want to play in a very good franchise and a stable place. If you are not offering that and that is why the Clippers have been so attractive and that is why the Nets have been so attractive because they have made themselves into a product people would like to play at.”
