After the Lakers lost to the injury-riddled Toronto Raptors on Monday, falling into a three-way tie for the fifth seed in the West, LeBron did the same thing the Mavericks owner and franchise player did – he criticized the play-in concept, only after his team was affected by it.
Whoever came up with that s–t needs to be fired.LeBron James
Just a year ago, James said he was in favor of the play-in tournament. Mark Cuban did the same thing by being a part of the unanimous vote approving the format. Now, after the Mavs’ and the Lakers’ disappointing regular season runs, they’ve both backtracked. And Reggie Miller wasted no time calling LeBron out for it.
Where was all this talk a month ago? Two months ago? When the Lakers, when Boston, the Dallas, they were securely one of the top six teams. Now they’re on the outside, possibly looking in… there’s a little bit of crying.Reggie Miller, Dan Patrick Show
It’s not about what LeBron said – Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade were also critical of the play-in concept. It’s about when he said it and how he changed his tune. That’s what rubs fans the wrong way – Reggie included.
LeBron goes down, AD goes down, and now they’re kind of on a nose-dive, looking at 7 through 10. So, I don’t wanna hear all the crying.Reggie Miller, Dan Patrick Show
Reggie said what most of us think – instead of whining about the format he signed off on, LeBron should just go out and make sure the Lakers don’t have to play those extra games. Of course, it’ll be tougher now since it’s been reported James will sit out at least the next two games, maybe even more.
But even if they wind up between No.7 and No.10, the 36-year-old superstar, assuming he’s healthy, shouldn’t have any problem securing the Lakers a playoff spot. So why whine about it LeBron?
