Penny Hardaway loves everything LeBron is doing and talks about the similarities between them

While making a guest appearance on the Undisputed with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, former NBA player Penny Hardaway talked about his career and the current NBA. Penny mentioned he is a big fan of LeBron James and everything he’s been doing throughout his career. Penny said he appreciates the most about LeBron is the fact he’s been incredibly consistent and now, at the age of 36, is still one of the best players in the league when healthy. On top of that, his dominance in the NBA can be seen through the teams he played on in the last 10 years, leading them all to several NBA finals, winning 4 championships during that period.

That is my guy; I love that guy. I don’t even know what to say about him; he is phenomenal. Watching LeBron is incredible, his IQ of the game, his durability, his will to win, his leadership. He has a great understanding of the game on when to turn it on, and when to allow guys to play. I just think he is phenomenal and still be rolling at his age right now. He doesn’t get injured, he doesn’t lose, and he is the man. I just look at any team he is on; they are the favorites to win it no matter what.

While playing for the Orlando Magic, Penny was a unique talent and a player that took the league by storm during his prime years. Standing at 6’7″, with an incredible repertoire of moves, athleticism, and high basketball IQ, Penny impacted the game on multiple levels just like LeBron. In the interview, he also talked about the similarities between him and LeBron, saying they both have the mentality to get other players involved before everything else. Just like Penny, LeBron is a true floor general that dictates the game’s tempo for his team, always looking to put himself or his teammates in a position to be successful.

I think we both have the vision. We are a matchup problem, and I was a matchup problem as a point guard being 6’7″,and most guards were way smaller than me. The versatility with the basketball, understanding where guys are supposed to be at all times. Making the right pass at the right time. Getting guys going, especially those that need to get going that are going to help you win the ball game. It’s just understanding every detail of all 48 minutes when you are on the court.

Penny is fascinated by LeBron’s ability to stay healthy and consistent even after all the individual and team success he had in his career. He was even a legitimate MVP candidate before he got injured a few weeks ago, which is one of his most significant injuries in the last few years, which definitely speaks volumes about his preparedness and longevity. He is on his quest for another championship this season, but injuries have derailed the Lakers, and it will be of utmost importance LeBron gets healthy right before the playoffs start in a month. When the Lakers are entirely healthy with LeBron leading the way, they have a real chance to repeat, which will cement LeBron’s legacy as one of the greatest players of all time.
