Paul George: “The reason the Rockets aren’t succeeding is not because of Melo”

Carmelo Anthony and the Houston Rockets are not having a good season at all.

From a team that almost beat the Warriors last season in the playoffs, Rockets were expecting much more this year. Carmelo, on the other hand, wasn’t himself for quite some time now and the last news is that he will be traded somewhere.

To be completely honest, it seems age has completely caught up with Carmelo based on the massive decline he has in numbers this season. His points are and field goal percentage has been on a career-low but his defense is probably an even more important factor why the Rockets are willing to remove him from the team.

Although many would agree that Carmelo is not capable to provide additional value to a team that wants to contend for a  championship, his former teammate Paul George showed support for Carmelo.

“The reason the Rockets aren’t succeeding is not because of Melo,”. “It has nothing to do with Melo. For that to be the notion or the headlines is very inaccurate. Fact of the matter is they’re not playing great basketball right now as a group. They have great talent, great players, but it has nothing to do with Melo. Melo’s one of the best scorers, one of the best players, Hall of Famer.”

It will be interesting to see what will happen in the upcoming days with the whole Carmelo and Rockets situation. Carmelo’s value has dropped significantly in the last couple of seasons which means the Rockets don’t have much to get for him in a potential trade.

Nevertheless, if Carmelo is placed in the right system he could be of value to some teams, however, it remains to see which of them will pursue Carmelo in a trade from the Rockets.
