Luo Xiangijan is a basketball player from China with a remarkable story that should be an inspiration for everyone, especially people with disabilities. At the age of five, Luo lost his right leg after an incident with a previous war bomb. However, that accident didn’t stop him from doing what he loves the most, and that is playing basketball and getting better at it every single day.

When I was five years old, a bomb leftover from the Sino Vietnam war blew off my right leg. I keep working-out every day to build up my body and my strength.Luo Xiangijan
Many people with similar disabilities feel they can’t participate in sports, and Luo wants to break that barrier and inspire people to change their mindset.
I think there are probably a lot of people like me who feel because they lost a leg or have a disability, they can’t enjoy the happiness of sports. But I want to get on the court and empower them. My disability was caused by the war, and I especially hope there will be peace and not war in the world. They will make our home more beautiful and our world better.Luo Xiangijan
Luo’s message for people who feel they cannot do something to better their life is that they should look at him as inspiration. He wants to tell a story of personal success and happiness for doing and enjoying in every second of his dedication to basketball.
Another reason I work out is I hope to tell others. I can do it, so why can’t you.Luo Xiangijan
His dedication to becoming the best basketball player earned him the 3-point shooting championship in one of the national contests. On top of that, Luo was even selected as the torch carrier for Asian Games in Indonesia back in 2018. His ultimate goal is to start a basketball school to educate other kids about basketball and life itself and what perspective they need to succeed and appreciate everything life brings their way.
