“These high school motherf**kers think they can f**k with me?!” - Tyson Chandler recalls hearing Kevin Garnett’s trash talk in a preseason game
When you think of the most brazen trash talkers in the NBA, chances are you'd envision Kevin Garnett. Many stories of the Hall of Famer savagely lambasting opponents continue to crop up even to this day. Tyson Chandler is one of the latest to share his entry, recalling the first time he faced off with the former Minnesota Timberwolves star during his appearance in a "Knuckleheads" podcast episode.
KG's legendary trash-talking lore
The big man shared that it was his first time to be on the same court as Garnett and that he was in awe of seeing him. During the pre-game layup drills, Chandler and teammate Eddy Curry lined up at the same time and were running back to the line when Garnett had something to say about them.
"KG come down on the side, he was like, 'These motherf**kers, these high school mother**kers think they can f**k with me?! Nah, f**k that! I'm motherf**king Ticket!'" Chandler said. "I was like, 'Oh my God. Is he talking to us, Eddy?'"

Funnily enough, Chandler told the hosts that it was a preseason game between the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota. And because it's his first time to face Garnett, he was presumably a rookie then. It should be noted that Chandler, who was the No. 2 selection of the 2001 draft, and Curry, who was chosen two picks after, were both coming straight to the NBA after high school.
The story certainly adds to KG's legendary trash-talking lore, as it shows that he had no problem vocally abusing teenagers - even in non-bearing contests.
Following in the Big Ticket's footsteps
Interestingly, Chandler's career mirrored Garnett's in some ways. Both were high school draftees who brought home an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award and won a championship while anchoring the team's defense.
Maybe the former All-Star also learned a thing or two from KG about being vocal on the court.
