From the start of his NBA career, Shaq went on record several times saying how he idolized The Admiral and wanted to pattern his hame after him.

However, during their first matchup, David Robinson dominated Shaq so bad that “The Diesel” had to think of something to motivate himself in upcoming duels.

This dunk took place in the ‘96 All-Star Game and the interesting thing about it was that Shaq and Robinson already had a beef going on. The beef was for the most part fueled by Shaq because he thrived on it — something about The Admiral refusing to sign an autograph when he was a kid. O’Neal later admitted he made the whole thing up.

Anyways, back to the dunk — Grant Hill was pushing the ball up court with Shaq close by. Hill bounced the ball off to Shaq, and Shaq took one dribble and exploded off two feet to posterize The Admiral. Let’s look at this in replay. The Diesel was probably in the best shape of his life back then. Pretty cool to see MJ enjoying the dunk.
