Michael Jordan recalls his favorite dunk in the NBA
Most of you have seen hundreds of MJ dunk videos and you probably have your own favorite, but do you know which one was his favorite? Michael Jordan once dunked a dunk so ferocious that not even Michael Jordan could believe it.
During an NBA 2K promotional event back in 2013, Jordan was asked about his favorite dunk and this was his reply:
“My most memorable dunk, the one that I think about very, very often is the Patrick Ewing Dunk”. I dunked it so hard on him it's unbelievable and every time I see him that is the first thing I remind him off.

Let's take a look at the dunk.
MJ received the ball on the left side of the floor and naturally wanted to penetrate to the basket. Starks and Oakley immediately started to double team him. Jordan then made a hesitation dribble in the other direction and tricked them both. What followed was a monster throw-down on the unfortunately unprepared Patrick Ewing. It's safe to say Ewing was pretty pissed about everything that had happened.
If you're going to attempt blocks in the NBA, you're inevitably going to get dunked on. Ewing was a ferocious competitor and he never backed down from a challenge, not even to the likes of Jordan, Pippen, and O'Neal. Unfortunately for Pat, because of this, he ended up on many posters and dunk videos and it's a shame that his legacy as one of the all-time bigs is overshadowed by several moments of bad luck. It is safe to say that Patrick Ewing is one of the most underrated NBA bigs, even Shaquille O'Neal admitted this to be true.
His offensive game was superior to any center in the past few years and his defense was criminally underrated — almost as underrated and unappreciated as his name is today.
At the end of the day, Pat's fingers are ringless and he can thank mainly Michael Jordan for that.
