"He's way better than I am" - Jason Kidd gets brutally honest about Chris Paul
Jason Kidd is not one to deny his fellow NBA greats the props, especially if he believes they rightfully deserve it. For J-Kidd, among them is future Hall of Famer Chris Paul.
According to Kidd, Paul has already exceeded a wide array of so-called NBA 'point gods,' including him. And what made CP3's career even better is the fact that Paul is still playing at a high level in his late 30s.
"He's way better than I am, when you look at what he's doing," Kidd told Go For It Radio of CP3 ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season. "I think it's great what Chris is doing. There's probably was whispers in the NBA community that his career was slowing down, but I think just the competitor that he is on and off the floor, he reevaluated what he had to do to get better… he's doing everything at a high level… I think he's going to play for another 10 [years] the way he's moving out there. He's going to break a lot of records."
J-Kidd is a CP3 fan
Besides being two of the greatest point guards to ever grace NBA hardwood, Paul and Kidd also used to be the leader of the Phoenix Suns. Jason hit his stride in his five seasons with the Suns, while CP3 only played three seasons with The Valley. However, Phoenix accomplished more as a team under Paul's leadership.
For that, Kidd admires Paul even more, and he has admittedly become a huge fan.
"[Paul] He led the Phoenix Suns to the Western Conference finals and then also to the finals," Kidd said of Paul's stint with the Suns. "… It's just amazing what he does as a leader, not just on the floor but off the floor, and I'm a big fan."
CP3 is in the 19th season of his NBA career
Like Kidd, Paul also played with multiple NBA teams. He is now playing his 19th season in the NBA, and he chose to take his talents to the Bay with the Golden State Warriors.
According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, they used to hate CP3 but now they are just happy to have one of the best floor generals of the modern-day NBA.
"We've all hated him because we were competing, and he was so good. And now that's our guy, and we love him," Kerr said of Paul.
At 38, Paul will be looking to finally hoist the championship trophy this season. It is perhaps the only thing missing on his resume and, needless to say, something his fans have been longing to see.
