How Yao Ming saw McGrady's 13 in 33

Tracy McGrady's 13 points in 35 seconds is one of the most amazing comebacks in NBA history. Against their in-state rival, San Antonio Spurs, McGrady performed a mini-miracle. We covered the story here, but if you don't remember how it went down, we got you.

T-Mac said he remembers the competition more than anything else. The drive to win against all the odds, but also the joy of competing. You need that point of view to become better when the lights shine brighter.

His teammate, Yao Ming, had a slightly different recollection of the moment. During his jersey retirement in Houston, Yao mentioned the famous quarter and how he retold the story to his neighbor.

"But you know what I told my neighbor that night, when I went home. He turned off the TV minutes before the game was over. I told him "T-Mac and I scored 15 points in the last minute to turn the game around."

Yao's size was impressive enough, but the way he moved, dribbled and shot the ball was the thing that made him so special. His career was cut short with injuries, and they left a big "what if" for the McGrady - Ming duo in Houston.

But the quality that made him a championship player level was his character. It is impossible to find anyone who has nothing but praise for the Chinese center — a great ambassador for the game in China.
