Larry Bird is one of the biggest trash talkers in NBA history. Larry unlike some players could actually back up his trash talking and there are numerous stories told by players around the league about their matchups with Bird.
Charles Barkley is one of these players and he had a very peculiar story about a situation in which he caught Bird frustrated and cursing during the game. When approached by Barkley who asked what is going on, Bird gave a very interesting response to why he was mad at the Sixers. He thought they were disrespecting him by putting a white player to guard him.
"Oh my god, Larry Bird talked a lot of trash. I always tell this story to people about Larry Bird. I remember when he was cursing out of his breath and I asked him what is going on with him. He said we are being disrespectful to him because we are putting a white guy to guard him. That's disrespectful. I can't remember who the guy was but I had no comeback. "
Barkley would continue and tell an MJ story in which Michael had the same complaints about being guarded by a white guy despite the fact that guy was Dan Majerle who was an NBA All-Star.
"Michael has said the same thing to me. Michael says "Man you are being disrespectful, you are pissing me off. You have a white guard guarding me. I said Dan Majerle is an All-Star and he said yeah but he is a white All-Star."
