“I will slap your lips off into next week, son” — when The Rock responded after Giannis Antetokounmpo threatened to “kill him” in a wrestling match

It was an epic back-and-forth from The Rock and The Greek Freak.

The Rock and Giannis Antetokounmpo

If there’s one thing Giannis Antetokounmpo and The Rock have in common, it would be the fact they are both beasts in their respective sports. But apart from that, the pair once proved to everybody that they also knew how to have a good time.

The Greek Freak pokes The Rock

For those who didn’t know, Giannis has always been a fun guy. In January 2019, he and his Milwaukee Bucks teammate Pat Connaughton decided to call The Rock out, taunting the 10-time WWE champion that they could lift more than him.

As expected, it didn’t take long for The Rock to make a response. But contrary to his famous WWE character, The Rock did not put the NBA superstar in his place. Instead, he just complimented Giannis and Connaughton by saying, “Haha just seeing this. My boys here are stroooong!!”

However, things took a huge turn when Antetokounmpo upped the ante in an interview shortly after. When asked how he would fare against The Rock in a wrestling match, Giannis jokingly said. “I’d kill him.” Or course, The Rock hit back with his classic, WWE-style trash-talking.

Love this dude. It’s why he’s an [NBA] beast…But you don’t want this smoke, cuz I will slap your lips off into next week, son. And by that I mean, let’s just get a workout in and enjoy some tequila after.

Indeed, it was an epic back-and-forth between The Rock and Giannis. The fans were absolutely delighted, and something equally exciting happened when the Rock and Shaq had a verbal duel.

Everybody can smell what Giannis is cooking in the NBA

While Giannis showed everyone that he was down to fool around a bit in the middle of an exhausting season, he also proved that he knew when to get serious. In fact, Antetokounmpo took off that same year, finishing the season with 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. He was voted the rightful MVP, and picked up where he left off the following season.

Antetokounmpo copped the MVP award once again, but this time, he also became the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year.

In the 2020-21 season, “The Greek Freak” cooked everybody in the league and brought the championship back to Milwaukee, winning the NBA Finals MVP award in the process.

Looking back, Giannis may not be able to outlift or beat The Rock in wrestling, but he showed all of us that he could also dominate his competition the same way the WWE superstar did in pro wrestling.
