Former NBA player Ty Lawson has been banned for life from the CBA for Instagram story posts. Lawson made several comments on the way Chinese women dress after apparently partying in a night club. There were pictures on his Instagram account that showcase him spending time with some women.
His team, the Fujian Sturgeons, gave an official statement for a Chinese media agency where they describe behavior as inappropriate.
“His inappropriate words are inconsistent with the social responsibilities and values abided by our club and have brought serious adverse social impacts to the club and the league. We will not sign him for the new season.”
Lawson has been playing in CBA for the past two seasons, and Sturgeons are the second CBA team that signed him in 2019. According to several reports, Lawson had problems with alcohol abuse and was even arrested for DUI for four different occasions. In 2015, he was ordered by the court to enter an alcohol treatment program.
The last NBA team Lawson played for were the Washington Wizards, but he made the most significant impact while wearing a Denver Nuggets jersey. Throughout his entire NBA career, Lawson averaged 12.7 points and 6 assists.
