Longtime Golden State Warriors fans know how meaningful the 2007 NBA Playoffs was to their beloved team. For a quick recap, that was the year the “We Believe” Dubs upset the best team in the league, edging the first-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round. As expected, Golden State celebrated like “it was the championship,” and by that, former Warrior Stephen Jackson meant a lot of wild things going on.
Wild thoughts in his mind
Some of us may have already heard stories about how wild the partying was after the Warriors beat the Mavs. And the fact that Baron Davis and other members of the organization happened to be friends with famous celebrities such as Woody Allen, Snoop Dogg, Jessica Alba, and Kate Hudson certainly made those stories even more epic.
According to Jackson, he had quite an unforgettable experience with Alba and Hudson at that party as the pair wound up smoking marijuana inside his hotel room and lying in his bed.
“I’m laying in my bed after the game, and Baron Davis is good friends with Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson. They don’t wanna smoke in front of everybody so they came to my room. Just picture this, they’re both laying on my bed. I’m loaded so I’m having all kinds of things going on in my mind,” Jackson recalled via 95.7 The Game.
Matt Barness story
To give us a better picture, another former Warrior, Matt Barnes, also shared a story similar to that of Jackson. Like his former teammate, Barnes also vividly recalls the highlights of the wild celebration. And yes, it also involved Alba and Hudson.
"We got up to (Don Nelson's) penthouse in Lake Merritt, and he tells us, 'Woody's in the back rolling doobies fellas, go back there.’ It was Woody Allen rolling doobies, and our coach is telling us to go back there and smoke with him. Nelly had the whole roof, and we go up, and there's Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson, and Snoop," Barnes said. "We ended up going out to a club in San Francisco and lived it up after that, and then we went back to Snoop's hotel and blew it down.”
Of course, we might never hear the full details of everything that took place during that epic Golden State Warriors celebration. But one thing we know for sure is that the “We Believe” Dubs really knew how to party and have a good time.
