Retired Boston Celtics superstar Paul Pierce celebrated his birthday on Oct. 13, and his friends apparently gifted him an NSFW cake that evoked memories of his scandal in 2021.

Getting fired from ESPN

After a successful 19-year playing career that also saw him play for the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers, Pierce stayed connected with the league by jumping into the broadcasting booth at ESPN in 2017. He appeared in several shows, including stints as a studio analyst for "The Jump" and "NBA Countdown."

The Celtics icon's tenure with the company ended in April 2021 after he was given the boot following his infamous Instagram Live video that went viral. The post featured poker, exotic dancers, alcohol, and what looked to be a blunt.

The Hall of Famer didn't seem all that fazed by the firing, even gloating on Twitter that "big things are coming" and he is "winning."

A legendary career

Even though he has met a few controversies in the past years, no one can argue Pierce's place in Celtics lore.

The 10-time All-Star is a huge reason Boston has a 17th championship banner hoisted up in the TD Garden rafters.

He teamed up with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the 2007-08 season to go on a title run, defeating longtime rivals Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals. Pierce took home the Finals MVP honors after averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game in the series.
