Lamar Odom realized monogamy was important: 'The next time I’m having sex, I’ll be married'

Odom shockingly revealed that he had vowed not to engage in sexual intercourse with any woman until they were married

Despite not becoming an All-Star during his playing years, we can all agree that former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom was one of the most notable combo-forwards from his era.

However, in the latter part of his career, or should I say when he married world-famous celebrity Khloe Kardashian in 2009, off-court news about him became more and more frequent. In fact, some of us mostly remembered “L.O.” for the controversies and gossip rather than his NBA accolades.

Odom’s downfall

Following the Lakers’ disappointing playoff defeat to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, Odom’s career went downhill. His game declined, and he hit the lowest scoring average of his career in his final two seasons in the NBA, 6.6 with the Mavs and 4.0 with the Clippers.

Outside basketball, things were also not going down well for Odom. As some of us already know, being married to an ultra-popular celebrity is not easy, and the Lamar-Khloe relationship is no different. In 2016, the marriage finally fell apart.

We could say that things were often a little too complicated for the couple, but Odom is well aware of his contributions to the breakup- addiction to a number of negative things, most notably, “sex.”

The confession

In an interview with Graham Bensinger in 2020, Odom confessed that his sex addiction reached the point where he was already putting it “over things that really matter.”

“At one point in my life, I’m addicted to sex,” Odom admitted. “I put sex over things that really matter. [Like] Breathing, living life, being present.”

In the process, the two-time NBA champ had also cheated on his ex-wife several times. As he reflected on his mistakes, Odom shockingly revealed that he had vowed not to engage in sexual intercourse with any woman until they were married.

“I never thought [monogamy] it was important before,” he reflected. “When you can grow with someone, and you realize you’re growing with them and you’re not having sex…And it’s crazy because the next time I’m having sex, I’ll be married.”

At the time of his revelation, Odom was still engaged with Sabrina Parr. But before 2020 ended, the pair called off the engagement with Parr stating Odom “has some difficulties that he alone has to deal through.”

To this day, Odom still hasn’t married a woman yet. With that in mind, and if he is being true to his word, it’s safe to say Odom still hasn’t got any piece of the action with a woman.
