Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson are some of the biggest names in their own respective sports and global icons who have left a huge trail in the history of basketball and boxing. MJ is a 6x time champion and consensus GOAT of basketball, while Mike Tyson was once the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, regarded as one of the most dangerous people on the planet. But what you may not know is that one night these two almost got into it.

Love problems

What else than messing around with the same woman in a short time span could make two men beef? When MJ entered the NBA in 1984, he was rumored to be dating actress Robin Givens, who just happened to marry Mike Tyson a few years later, only to get divorced shortly after. Obviously, the connection between the two didn't have anything to do with it, but that didn't stop Tyson from getting emotional and mad.

As Tyson's long-time friend and manager, Rory Holloway, revealed in his book during a dinner in 1988, in which you had names like MJ, Tyson, Don King, Richard Dent, and Mike Ditka, tempers flared. Dent was celebrating his birthday, and Tyson had a few too many to drink. As he was going through his divorce at the time, the fighter decided to let his emotions speak and go after everyone at the table, especially MJ:

"I'm telling the server to water his drinks down 'cause I see where this is going. Mike stares across the table at Michael Jordan. He says, 'Hey man, you think I'm stupid? I know you f—-d with my b—h.' Jordan looks like he just seen a ghost. 'I know you messed with her. You can tell me.' Jordan, it's obvious he just wants to get up and run. He wants no part of this...It was a circus, for real, that night. Don King trying to change the subject. Me and John trying to hold Mike down. Mike telling everyone he's going to bust Jordan's a–. Jordan's dressed sharp as always and he can't get out of there fast enough."

Rory Holloway, Taming the Beast: The Untold Story of Team Tyson

Tyson maybe looks like a rock on the outside, but inside he is just a man with emotions, and going through the divorce with Givens took a toll on him mentally. Jordan, who definitely had no ill intentions, was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to avoid getting his ass handed to him by the scariest dude on the planet.

Even though Tyson had something to complain about to everyone on the table, it was obvious he focused his anger on Jordan, as he was constantly warning everyone he is going to beat him up. Can you even imagine how this looked at the time in person? The fearless Michael Jordan trembling and getting away, before a prime, drunk and angry Mike Tyson goes after him for messing with his wife before they were even together. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that restaurant!
