Kanye West recently received much media attention for his comments about the music, fashion, and media industry and his overall views on life and who runs the world. These types of statements and opinions he shared brought him numerous problems, with brands cutting ties with him immediately on all fronts, which subsequently caused his net worth to decrease dramatically.

Kanye has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons

This type of behavior by Kanye over the last few years has become more and more problematic, and he has accumulated quite a large repertoire of statements that made people scratch their heads and even contemplate whether or not he lost his mind. A few years ago, Kanye said slavery is a choice which also caused a lot of heads turning, and one of the people who also shared the opinion about that statement was the late great Kobe Bryant.

Kobe was definitely larger than life, and even though he was one of the greatest basketball players, he had much more depth than other NBA players and interests outside of basketball. His intelligence set him apart, which was why he was so successful outside the NBA arenas after his career was over, venturing to other industries and starting multiple businesses.

Kobe disagreed with Kanye's comments

When asked about Kanye's statement, Kobe was equally shocked as everyone else about that proclamation, saying Kanye has every right to say what he wants; however, he also has to understand the consequences of his words. Kobe knew Kanye was a multidimensional artist that always looked to learn more and grow, but when it came to this specific statement, Kobe wholeheartedly disagreed with the notion Kanye was promoting at the time.

"I was feeling the same way as everybody in this room, like, what the hell are you talking about? The thing about our country is that you have to say what you whatever you want to say. That is the beautiful part of living in a democracy. Now conversely, you also have to take the responses that come after that as well because everybody has the freedom to say how they feel. I was shocked just like everybody, but I think for him he is one of these entertainers that is always in a constant state of growth; he is always challenging not us as people but really himself. He is doing a lot of questioning internally himself. I just take it for what it is and completely disagree."

Kobe was always thoughtful and rarely spoke without giving a second thought about the question, even this one about Kanye's statement. He was mature enough and had extensive knowledge of how media works from his personal experience in the past, which was one of the main reasons why he was shocked by Kanye's remarks. This time around, it will be interesting to see how the whole situation with Kanye pans out because it seems the recent comments he made brought a lot of negativity towards him, and the consequences he will have to endure, mostly from the business standpoint, will be more severe than ever before in his career.
