On his new podcast, Kevin Durant talked about several things related to basketball, the NFL, the culture, hip hop, and, more precisely, Drake's new album Her Loss, which came out a week ago and caused quite a bit of attention. This album was done in collaboration with Savage 21, and according to Durant, it simply solidified Drake's legacy as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Durant is a big fan of Drake
Durant also admitted he heard two songs before the album was officially released because of his connections in the music industry. He didn't say which two songs he had early access to, but Durant was excited about the rest of the album dropping because he knew it would be one of the greatest Drake albums ever.
"I had like two songs for like 2 months, not longer than that, but it felt longer than that. When it dropped, I was mad jealous that everyone was up on a wave that I have been upon. At this point, we have to start arguing which one of Drake's albums is going to be in the top 10 of all time."
Durant shared which are his favorite songs from the new album
Durant recognizes Drake's growth as an artist over the years, which is one of the reasons he is a big fan of his. The album has 16 songs, but Durant pointed out "Middle of the Ocean" as his favorite one because Drake is rapping all the way through the song without any hooks, a skill set he often gets neglected for because of his versatility. Durant also pointed out Privileged Rappers as his other favorite song on the album, and this one features 21 Savage on it as well.
"The music is so incredible, and you can see the growth, and even that is crazy for somebody we consider the best ever. I heard some songs on this album that made me think I never heard that flow from Drake before,I had never heard him on this type of beat. He is really trying some stuff, and it's sticking. He is creating a new catalog for himself. Middle of the ocean is by far my favorite song because Drake is straight-up rapping, no hooks is the best Drake to me. I would say privileged rappers is a go-to one for me."
Drake has been one of the most influential artists of this generation and one of KD's favorite ones ever since he was in college. When it comes to Her Loss, the reviews overall are positive because it seems people love that he was focused on making a real rap album that has somewhat of an old-school sound with great deliveries both by him and Savage 21.
