Jordan invests in another franchise

MJ was one of the first athletes to make a brand out of himself. The Jordan brand was a revolution and he was the first former player to own an NBA franchise. While the Hornets are one of a few teams left that is not a member of the NBA 2K League, that is not to be misinterpreted as if Jordan does not realize the power of the gaming world. He has over and over again proved he can make a buck outside the court as well.

Jordan became one of the investors in aXiomatic, an e-sports ownership group that among others owns Team Liquid, one of the best teams in the industry. Forbes ranks them as the third most valuable e-sports franchise and puts their value around $200 million. Jordan isn't the only one investing in them, as Peter Guber, co-owner of the NBA's Golden State Warriors and MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers and Ted Leonsis, owner of the NHL's Washington Capitals and NBA's Washington Wizards are already board members.

Other former NBA players have already invested in E-Sports. Rick Fox has his own company Echo Fox while Shaquille O'Neal is a co-owner in NRG Esports. The most notable active e-sports enthusiast is Gordon Hayward who plays daily and will surely invest in an e-sports team sooner than later.
