NBA players might be some of the physically ready athletes in the world, but that doesn't mean they are immune to a good time. On the contrary, some of the best players ever were known for loving a good night out, but nobody can compete with Dennis Rodman in that category.

The king of partying

When Rodman came into the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, he was just a shy kid coming from a humble upbringing, earning a place under the sun thanks to his unmatched energy and hustle. Dennis would quickly make his impact in the league, become one of the best defensive players, win championships and become a big name.

Naturally, with all the fame came money, confidence, and a complete revolution in his character, as Rodman went from being the quietest person in the room to a total eccentric, always in the spotlight. From dating famous women, partying in Las Vegas, getting arrested, and numerous crazy stuff, Rodman became the symbol for nightlife in the NBA.

John Salley, who came into the NBA together with Dennis in Detroit, shared his experience of going out with Rodman and having a completely different experience than usual:

"When we got there, we were just the two rookies. And then Dennis started hanging out, and we started winning, and he was so exciting. He was like: 'Hey man you gotta come out with me.' And at that time, I didn't really go to clubs that didn't have black folks in them. It was 1986. But when I finally went to the club that had less black folks in them, the clubs he was hanging in. Huh. We were pissing a lot of fathers and grandfathers off—generational racism out of the window."

It's no secret that women love NBA players, and in his prime, Rodman was one of their favorites. The infamous video from 1996 in which a camera crew filmed Dennis on a night out getting harassed by various women is the perfect example of that. When Salley saw that on their night out, he probably thanked Rodman for showing him a completely different benefit of being an NBA player. It was definitely a lot of fun for them.
