It's hard to compare different eras in basketball and predict how individual players would perform under different circumstances and rules. There is a significant notion going around among fans that the league is soft today, and the players themselves are not as tough and competitive as they used to be back in the 90s or even 80s.
One of the older players who firmly believes in this statement is none other than Dennis Rodman, who will go down as one of the best pure rebounders and defenders of all time. In an interview for the Overtime, Rodman used an example of LeBron James, who is still one of the best players in the league despite being a 35-year-old.
Rodman said Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, and himself wouldn't have any problem guarding LeBron, and he specifically said that Pippen is the one who would cause a lot of issues for LeBron in a direct matchup.
"Do you know who can lock up LeBron? Me, Mike and Scottie could. Scottie Pippen could shut his f***ing a** down quick before I get to him. LeBron is so easy to play. He is so F**ing easy to play. He doesn't have any moves. His game is so simple, he is just big. The only thing he has is that he is 6'8″ and 260 pounds, and I've guarded guys bigger than him.
