"Adam was Bird, and I was Magic"-Shaquille O'Neal talks about playing pick up basketball with Adam Sandler

A pretty funny comparison from Shaq.

NBA players going Hollywood and appearing in movies is nothing new and pretty common, especially in today's world. But actors balling and actually getting respect from the NBA community is rare, but that is precisely what Adam Sandler has done over the past few years.

The Shaq-Sandler connection

Shaq is most definitely one of the best and most dominant players the NBA has ever seen. Still, his comedic nature and personality made him perfect for Hollywood and hilarious appearances in movies. A lot of his work has been in partnership with Adam Sandler.

A notable Lakers fan that is often seen courtside built a friendship with Shaq during his time in LA, and Adam promised him a few movie roles in case he brings some championships to Los Angeles. O'Neal delivered, and Sandler kept his promise, casting Shaq in a few movies like Hubie Halloween, The Grown Up's franchise, Blended, and Jack and Jill.

The interesting rise of Adam Sandler and his popularity over the past few years has not only been linked to him doing a few more serious roles' but also becoming an iconic celebrity hooper. Every now and then, a video of Sandler dropping dimes and hooping in the coolest way possible pops out, and everybody loves it.

But apparently, Sandler can really play, as told in this exchange between him and Shaq in a recent podcast:

Adam: "Shaq, do you remember when we played full court that time? Wasn't that the best? That wasn't the best for you, but it was the best for us. We had a ball!"

Shaq: "Adam was Bird, and I was Magic. It was me and Adam and some other guys. And we just killed everybody in the gym. But don't let Adam fool you. He has a hell of a fadeaway."

Adam: "By the way, thanks for telling everybody I'm decent at hooping. You go well beyond what you have to say. For 55-year-old fat guys I'm pretty good!"

Comparing them to Magic and Bird might be a far-fetch, but I'm still pretty sure that combo worked very well and dominated the pick-up run. Hopefully, maybe one day, we will actually see the tandem in action.
