After their matchup a few nights ago, Lebron’s dirty play on Embiid was what everyone was talking about. Embiid voiced his frustration, pointing out he would’ve been ejected if he did that to LeBron. The play stole attention from the fact we might’ve seen the future Finals matchup – that’s exactly what NBA legend Muggsy Bogues thinks happened.
Everybody on the East is currently looking at the back of the Philadelphia 76ers. Doc Rivers’ team sits at 13-6, and they’ve shown their muscles against the LA Lakers. The close game was decided by Tobias Harris, who banked a jumper late in the game. That surely doesn’t mean something significant now, but in the long run, it surely boosts up the morale for the 76ers.
The Lakers vs. Philly matchup in the Finals was, in fact, the game that Muggsy Bogues predicted recently. Former NBA and Space Jam star shared his thoughts about the current NBA season on VladTV. After pointing out that Philly, L.A., Boston, and Milwaukee have some tremendous looking teams this year, Muggsy finally settled on Los Angeles Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers in the Finals.
“The Lakers are gonna get back to the Finals; I can’t see them not getting back. On the East, Philly is starting to scare me. The way Embiid is playing right now, the way Doc’s got them playing closer to the basket. And Simmons is pushing that thing down to the floor, and they’ve got some shooters around now in Danny Green and Seth Curry. You know, they’re starting to scare me. But of course, Milwaukee’s still there with Giannis. Boston is scary, too – if Kemba comes back the way he is. But I’m gonna say Philadelphia is coming out of the East.”Muggsy Bogues, VladTV
Even though some people wouldn’t agree with Bogues, the 76ers showed that they could play a relevant role in this year’s playoffs. Embiid is playing on an MVP level, and Rivers basketball philosophy shows an improvement in Philly’s game. However, Bogues doesn’t see them winning it all in the end.
“If Philly and the Lakers get to the Finals, LeBron will have his repeat.”Muggsy Bogues, VladTV
If the 76ers are in the Finals with a healthy Embiid and Simmons, it will be easier said than done.
