In the aftermath of the current events taking place all over the US, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand have announced that they are making a 100 million dollar investment for organizations that are promoting racial and social justice/equality. In a press release from Jordan and his brand, the payout will be made throughout ten years, and the main goal is to work on racial equality, social justice, and better education

“I don’t have the answers, but our collective voices show strength and the inability to be divided by others. We must listen to each other, show compassion and empathy and never turn our backs on senseless brutality. We need to continue peaceful expressions against injustice and demand accountability. Our unified voice needs to put pressure on our leaders to change our laws, or else we need to use our vote to create systemic change. Every one of us needs to be part of the solution, and we must work together to ensure justice for all.”
Jordan was often criticized for not being involved in the African-American community even though he made multiple donations throughout his career. This move by Jordan brand is another example of how actions speak more than words. Hopefully, these actions will somehow improve the current situation many communities are facing throughout the US.
