Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Talk Trash back in the 2003 All-Star Game

MJ and Kobe, arguably the two best players of all-time, facing off in the All-Star Game. What a time we lived in. Lucky are the ones who watched this duel live.

This was a moment of ‘passing the torch’ because it turned out to be Jordan’s last All-Star appearance. He retired (for the last time) after the season was over. The young gun, on the other hand, was entering his prime in full mode and was already recognized as the game’s most dominant two-way force.

Bryant (22 points on 8-of-17 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists) outplayed Jordan (20 points on 9-of-27 shooting) in the contest, but the highlight of the night was the trash-talking between the two that was subsequently released by the NBA about a decade later.

What a gem. This footage is priceless. You can sense the mutual respect and positive energy of the video. However, Kobe was left speechless after MJ’s last remark.

One could say Kobe got the last laugh in this one, beating MJ in double overtime with a score of 155-145. But I’m sure MJ didn’t have a hard time getting over the loss when he went home and counted his rings.
