The Miami Heat did the unthinkable and won game 5 of the NBA finals 111-108, which means we’ll see a game six on Sunday evening. The Heat played incredible team basketball, but it was Jimmy Butler who put on a monster triple-double performance with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and five steals. Duncan Robinson also played big, scoring 26 points on seven three-pointers.
For the Lakers, it was none other than LeBron James, who was once again almost unstoppable. James ended up with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Despite getting injured and obviously in pain throughout the entire game, Anthony Davis scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but that wasn’t enough to secure the Lakers’ 17th championship.
This game was one of the most exciting games all season long, with numerous lead changes and Butler and James going at each other all night long. The Lakers didn’t have enough firepowers since only Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored in double digits alongside Davis and James.
It will be interesting to see what kind of adjustments the Lakers coaching staff prepares for the Sunday game, but it’s evident the Heat are not going away.
