METTA WORLD PEACE DESCRIBES THE CRAZY NIGHT HE HAD AFTER WINNING an NBA championship with the Lakers in 2010

Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, is one of the most eccentric characters in recent NBA history. Known throughout his career as a great defender but also an above-average scorer, the only reason why he didn’ t have an even greater career was his unusual behavior from time to time. After he bounced around the league for a while, Metta was asked to join the defending champs Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 to win another championship.

In game seven against the Boston Celtics in 2010, Metta was one of the main reasons they won that game. He was the second-leading scorer for the Lakers that game with 20 points, and his long-lasting ambition to become the NBA champion finally came to a realization. One of the things that perhaps wasn’t known up until now was what happened after their win, and in a recent interview for ‘The Players Tribune’, Metta shared a bit more about that night.

After partying all night in the club, still wearing his jersey, Metta somehow ended up at Dr.Dre’s recording studio, where he made a remix of his song ‘Champion’.

I went to the club, my tape is still on, popping bottles. Then we go to the studio, at like 4 in the morning we go to the studio. Dr.Dre was in there, and he was with Scope Records. I released a record called Champion and then Dr.Dre heard the record and said, let’s do a new record.

After playing in a grueling game seven against the Celtics, drinking, and partying all night, Metta didn’t have the energy to finish the song at Dre’s studio, so he almost fell asleep. Another amusing anecdote from the studio is that Chris Brown was there and asked Metta to give him his jersey, which he did. On top of that, he even signed it for Chris Brown.

I was in the booth record with Dr.Dre, Champion part 2, and I’m falling asleep because I was so tired. We did one verse, and we were supposed to finish the second verse but never did it. And then Chris Brown is in the studio, and he takes my jersey and asked me if he can take it. I gave it to him and even signed it. I hope he still has the jersey because I would be pretty upset if he doesn’t have the jersey.

Apart from Metta, who won the NBA championship that night, Chris Brown was also extremely lucky because he was able to get a game-worn jersey from that game. That is pretty amazing, and Metta even said that he would be disappointed and mad if Chris Brown gave it away or doesn’t have it anymore.
