Marcus Smart explains why he is tired of answering all the Kyrie Irving questions from the media: “It’s a slap to everybody on this team”

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets played two games in two days, and a lot of media coverage was focused around Kyrie Irving more than on the actual game. The main reason for that was obviously because of the fact Irving left the Celtics after only two seasons, and it seemed the Celtics wanted to get rid of him while, on the other hand, he was never thrilled with being apart of the team.

Constant rumors were going around how Kyrie was affecting the chemistry within the Celtics in a negative way with his moody behavior. The same type of stories was going around a few weeks ago within the Nets organization as well. Before their first games this season, most of the attention shifted from basketball to Kyrie’s behavior towards his teammates.

In an interview after the game, Marcus Smart was asked again about Irving and why they didn’t hug after the game. Smart said he was tired of receiving all the Kyrie questions and responded how that is the ultimate sign of disrespect toward everyone.

“I’m really tired of hearing (questions) about Kyrie. Kyrie’s no longer with the Boston Celtics. It’s a slap to everybody on this team to keep hearing Kyrie’s name. Yet everybody, including the Boston fans want to talk about Kyrie.”
