Magic Johnson believes Westbrook and Harden can’t coexist together on the same team

One of the biggest moves in this summer free agency was definitely a trade between the Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder that sent Russell Westbrook back to his former teammate James Harden. Coming into their first season playing together after Harden left OKC to play for the Rockets back in 2012.

There is a lot of discussions about whether these two ball-dominant players can coexist on the same team and while some believe they will be able to figure it out, Magic Johnson believes that is not possible. When hosting on the ESPN’s show “First Take” with Stephen A.Smith and Max Kellerman, Magic said there will be many obstacles in making this relationship work on the court. Magic is convinced that both Harden and Westbrook are not ready to share the ball enough to make this work which in his mind is the reason why the Lakers and the Clippers have an advantage over the Rockets.

“Westbrook gotta learn how to play with James Harden. I don’t think those two can really coexist to me because Westbrook is not “stand in a corner cat”. James is usually on the top of the key going one-on-one or calling pick-n-rolls and Westbrook gotta stand somewhere. I don’t know how it’s gonna work but I still say that the Clippers and the Lakers are better than the Houston Rockets.”
