LEBRON’S HEARTWARMING MESSAGE TO 2020 GRADUATES “You’re all kings and queens”

With the global pandemic still severely affecting the world, large public gatherings remain unallowable. It’s easier for some to deal with it, but when you are a graduate student who invested years of hard work to achieve his/her goals, and when you are not able to celebrate it with your loved ones, it must be tougher than for others.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama provided students with the alternative; he headlined the event “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020,” which aired on May 16, 2020. Among many celebrities who were a part of the project, one name stands out, and it’s LeBron James. The King delivered a heartwarming speech, showing admiration for students and encouraging them never to forget where they came from and to always remain a part of their community, in whatever way possible.

“In our poorest neighborhoods, schools are about much more than learning. In places like Akron, Ohio, schools are an essential service. It may be the only place that supports you, the only place to protect you, and for many, the only place that feeds you. Our schools are our safety net. Our people build our communities. To the class of 2020: as you celebrate tonight, do not forget your safety net … And now it is time to go to a new place. It is time to chase every dream, accept every challenge, strive for greatness, honor every promise, and recommit to your community … My message is to stay close to home. Maybe not physically, but in every other way possible. Pursue every ambition, go as far as you possibly can dream, and be the first generation to embrace a new responsibility, a responsibility to rebuild your community. Class of 2020, the world has changed. You will determine how we rebuild, and I ask that you make your community your priority. Congratulations, class of 2020. I love all of you, and remember one thing: you’re all kings and queens.”.

LeBron James, UNINTERRUPTED

Growing up the way he did, LeBron has developed a keen sense for the community, and that’s what he is trying to convey to the young ones. He’s emphasizing the importance of appreciating all the people who’ve helped them get to where they are, whether it was in school, sports team, church, or any other community they were a part of growing up.

He is encouraging students to pursue their dreams and follow his footprints of becoming whatever they seek to become. But also do it off the court, and forever remain a part of their hometown communities. James is aware of the interdependence between communities and students and is using his platform to emphasize its importance.

LeBron is the perfect example of a successful individual who had stayed invested in his community. He has learned the value of important stuff in a person’s life and is trying to portray them to young ones. He is the role model for those who want to make a difference. Most of them won’t be able to do it to the extent as James, but every effort is valuable, and James knows it.

Hats off to LeBron for once again doing something more significant than basketball itself. He may not be everyone’s GOAT in terms of a basketball player, but it’s hard to argue against him as a person involved in every day social life. Hopefully, many will follow his example.
