LeBron James is ready to give up his No. 23 with the Los Angeles Lakers

Number 23 is the most iconic number in NBA history, perhaps even in the entire sport’s history. It was popularized by Michael Jordan and even though some NBA teams retired it in their rafters it’s still worn by several famous players in the NBA and it so happens from this summer two of them will play together on the same team.

LeBron James wore the #23 for the past couple of seasons and Anthony Davis had it for seven straight years while playing for the Pelicans. According to various reports, LeBron James is willing to give up on his #23 and let the honors to his new teammate Anthony Davis. James will return back and wear #6 which he wore during his Miami days.

This is definitely a very good sign and a show of good faith toward Anthony Davis from LeBron James and a good step moving forward in building a chemistry and team spirit necessary to be competitive next season.

The Lakers next move is to free enough cap space to land another All-Star to their roster which is essential for the team’s success in a very tough western conference.
