Carmelo Anthony has been out of the league for a full month now. The Houston Rockets decided to part ways with the former all-star and there were even reports saying Carmelo’s NBA career is done.
The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that showed partial interest in Carmelo but never made it official. The possibility to pair up Carmelo and James would definitely be something a lot of fans would like to see, however, their productivity on the court might suffer.
After yesterday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets, James spoke about Carmelo and said he it would be great to be his teammate if the opportunity presents itself.
“We’ll see. I don’t run the team,” James said. “There are obviously things that need to be worked out on both sides. But I’ve always wanted to play with Melo, and if the opportunity presents itself, it’ll be great. So we’ll see what happens.”
Last month in Orlando, LeBron said it wasn’t a question for him if Carmelo Anthony should join the Lakers. Tonight, he said he would love if the opportunity presents itself, and “obviously there’s some things that need to be worked out on both sides.” pic.twitter.com/jXyetKRauj

Time can only tell if the Lakers front office makes the move to hire an experienced veteran like Carmelo Anthony. To be honest, he wasn’t putting up great performances with the Houston Rockets and it was definitely a failed experiment in Houston.
Nevertheless, Carmelo has been seen working out after he was waived with the Houston Rockets hoping to land in a new NBA team. If LeBron James makes the suggestion to Lakers management that implies Carmelo’s necessity in the Lakers current system, there are high chances they actually might strike a deal.
