LaVar Ball’s warning to his son coming to the NBA ‘So, I hate to tell you, but you’re going to meet a hoe’

LaVar Ball is once again in the center of media attention because of two things. First of all, his son LaMelo Ball was drafted as the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA by the Charlotte Hornets. Secondly, he made a guest appearance on the BroBible podcast where he shared a message for his son LaMelo who is already well known around the league and will also earn a lot of money, which has its downside.

According to LaVar, it’s impossible for young and rich NBA players to find a decent woman that doesn’t care about money. LaVar said his kids and himself were fortunate to have their mom/wife, which is completely different from most women on the lookout for NBA players.

You’re never going to meet a nice woman — especially in basketball. You’re not going to find nobody like I found your mom. If you’re in this profession, you got all this fame and notoriety — how are you going to meet a good girl? You’re not.

He pretty much implies that all the women interested in LaMelo are gold diggers who only care about one thing: money and financial stability.

So, I hate to tell you, but you’re going to meet a hoe. Just how it goes, son. So, son, that’s the bad part of the life you’re going to get — you’re never going to meet a good woman.”

LaVar is obviously judgemental and generalizes all the women LaMelo will potentially meet in his career, but it’s also fair to say he is not far from the truth. Numerous NBA players got themselves into various problems by getting themselves involved with women that eventually betrayed their trust. LaVar is correct, and NBA players are often targeted because of their wealth and fame, and it’s not just women that use them but also friends and even at some times, their agents.
