Zlatan Ibrahimovic takes a subtle jab at LeBron for his involvement in politics

Apart from being a legendary soccer player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a big fan of basketball and the NBA. He specifically watches the Lakers because of his ties with Los Angels when he played for the LA Galaxy. In a recent interview for Discovery plus, Zlatan said he still watches NBA when he has the time, having his eye on everything the Lakers are doing this season. However, there is one thing he dislikes when it comes to NBA players specifically.

One of Zlatan's main characteristics was that he was always straightforward and said anything that comes to his mind without filters. So when he started talking about the NBA and LeBron James, who he admires a lot, he said he is tired of seeing players get involved in politics, which was pointed towards Lebron. LeBron is very vocal about racial, social, and political issues, which is something that should be the job of politicians, according to Zlatan.

I like it a lot. It's phenomenal what he is doing, but I don't like when people, when they have some kind of status and they do politics at the same time as they do as athletes. I mean, do what you are good at. Do the category you do. I play football because I'm the best in playing football. I don't do politics. If I were a politician, I would do politics. That is the first mistake people do when they become famous, and that comes with a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you are best at because it doesn't look good.

Even though many fans would agree with Zlatan because sports shouldn't mix with politics, things are different nowadays than before. With all the social media platforms and millions of followers, athletes have the opportunity to share their views and quickly get their voices heard about specific issues. Players themselves realize that and one part of them will continue to get involved, but it's up to the people to understand which of them are actually educated and knowledgeable enough to speak about specific topics they want to address.
