You should watch the WNBA playoffs!!!

Dearica-Hamby-WNBA

We are in the middle of an amazing WNBA season and you should start watching the games. As always, the necessity to fight for fan attention made the WNBA experiment with stuff we can only dream of in the NBA. You know how the first round of the playoffs is mostly boring because you are waiting out a best out of 7 series to end?

None of that stuff in the WNBA. There is an 8 team playoff and the first two rounds are single elimination - one game, loser goes home. The semifinals and finals are best out of five. NBA makes so much money on each playoff game reducing the series is an expensive proposition. When your entire league makes less than Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, that's not a problem you have. Watching the World Cup reminded us how fun single-elimination games are. None finished as dramatic as last nights Chicago Sky vs Las Vegas Aces.

Chicago had the lead, possession and 10 seconds on the clock. Next thing you know, Dearica Hamby intercepts a pass with 7 seconds to go and just throws it up from almost half-court. Which brings me to my second reason. If you just love hooping, the WNBA is getting much better every year. There is a lot of good basketball to see.
