The Milwaukee Bucks to host youth programs as part of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games

The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the top teams in the NBA over the last five years and are now set to take the global stage. The Bucks and Atlanta Hawks are set to travel to Abu Dhabi to play preseason games in front of a new crowd – on October 6th and 8th.

As part of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2022, the league announced that the Bucks and Hawks would also be involved in youth programs during their trip. The activities are planned over a week, starting October 3rd, with the idea of growing the sport.

The NBA has always been on the lookout for improving the reach of basketball across the world. The partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi started with a youth basketball league for 450 boys and girls between the age of 11 and 14 - Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League.

Players, coaches, and assistant coaches from both teams will deliver the program. NBA Legend Dominique Wilkins and WNBA Legend Ticha Penicheiro will also be involved in the clinics.

Arab News spoke to Saleh Mohamed Al-Geziry, director general of tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and he was positive about the collaboration:

"Our collaboration with the NBA is an exciting next step in our ambitious sports tourism strategy for the emirate, as we work to offer an unbeatable year-round calendar of fantastic sporting events."

The Bucks and the Hawks have a promising season ahead

The Hawks have made some stellar additions over the summer, with Dejounte Murray's addition taking center stage. The preseason games will be a good feeler for the upcoming season and can give the new additions time to bond with their teammates.

The Bucks, on the other hand, added only Joe Ingles – who is yet to complete a full recovery from his ACL injury. However, their draft pick MarJon Beauchamp can use this opportunity to fit into the system and prove his value.
