“Now, we gotta answer for what this idiot has done” — Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley slam Kyrie Irving

Shaq and Chuck were as serious as they get, and their message was clear - Kyrie is wrong.

There is no NBA team right now that is more chaotic than the Brooklyn Nets. They just let go of head coach Steve Nash in the middle of a rough 2-6 start to the season while being in the spotlight because of all the drama Kyrie Irving has brought to the organization. And not to mention, Ben Simmons still can’t shoot and is once again dealing with injuries, while Kevin Durant (who requested a trade last summer, and when that didn't happen asked the coach and GM to get fired) is again acting like he didn't have anything to do with the situation he finds himself in.

As much of a dumpster fire as the Nets are right now, the most problematic and important issue still revolves around Irving, who is recently catching a lot of heat for promoting a venomously antisemitic film (“Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America”) on Twitter.

What’s even worse is that Irving, who said he didn’t intend to promote the notorious film still hasn’t owned up to his mistakes.

Shaquille O’Neal thinks Kyrie is an idiot.

When asked about Irving’s problematic stance, Shaquille O’Neal straight-up called the Nets’ guard an idiot. O’Neal believes that Irving should’ve assessed his actions and more importantly never promote anything that divides the basketball community and people worldwide.

“... I can tell he’s not conscious and doesn’t really care about what’s going on. But us, I know that the game that we promote, it brings people together. It hurts me sometimes when we have to sit up here and talk about stuff that divides the game. Now, we gotta answer for what this idiot has done. I stand for equality of all people. I’ve always been like that, don’t matter the religion, where you’re from. I can say shalom, as-salaam-Alaikum, because that’s how I was raised so I don’t really want to sit up here and answer questions for what he’s done….,” O’Neal said on Tuesday’s NBA on TNT.

O’Neal and Barkley want Irving suspended.

Aside from O’Neal, Charles Barkley also spoke up about Irving’s situation and strongly feels that the NBA should’ve been harsher in terms of punishing Irving. Barkley believes the league dropped the ball by not reprimanding or fining Irving for his actions.

I think the NBA dropped the ball. He should’ve been suspended. Adam [Silver] should’ve suspended him. First of all, Adam is Jewish. You can’t take my $44 million and insult my religion. You’re going to insult me, you have the right but I have the right to say ‘No, you’re not going to take my $40 million dollars and insult my religion.’ I think the NBA made a mistake….,” Barkley added.

It’s only been 8 games, but it already seems like the drama and chaos within the Nets organization is only getting worse. That’s what happens when you run it back with a dissatisfied superstar in KD and frankly a dramatic, problematic and uncontrollable All-Star in Irving. Only time will tell whether or not the Brooklyn Nets can resolve their issues, but as of right now, they’re in contention to be the most dysfunctional team in NBA history.
