Former Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle had an interview with ESPN where he talked about his coaching career predominantly with the Dallas Mavericks and everything that was going on with the team. On top of that, Carlisle also shared more on what the team needs to do in the future to achieve the success they want with the roster they currently have.

Interestingly enough, Carlisle signed a four-year deal with the Indiana Pacers. and is looking forward to seeing what moves the team can make in the offseason that would solidify their chances of making it to the playoffs next season.

It's a team of skilled, unselfish guys that play hard. It's always possible that moves could be made before the season, but I think [GM Kevin Pritchard], and I are both very excited about getting the roster healthy and seeing what this team can be."

Carlisle reflected on the Mavs and everything he's been through with the team for the past few years. Even though Carlisle successfully brought them to the playoffs, they never made it past the first round. He made an interesting assessment saying Jason Kidd would be the best person for the job since he and Luka Doncic have so much in common.

It's hard to put an exact finger on it. It's just a feeling that I had that it would be mutually beneficial. My hope is that Jason Kidd will be the next coach of the Mavs because he and Luka have so many things in common as players.

Carlisle coached both Jason Kidd and Luka and said he saw many similarities in the two, which might be a good fit for the Mavs. The Mavs need to do everything in their power to make Luka happy and willing to stay with the team, and hiring Kidd as their new head coach might do the trick.

I just think that it would be a great situation for Luka, and I think it would be an amazing situation for Jason. I'm the only person on the planet that's coached both of those guys, and that knows about all of their special qualities as basketball players."

Jason Kidd was mentioned several times concerning a few NBA teams looking for a new head coach, and now it seems Dallas Mavericks might be the perfect landing spot for the former NBA champion. His experience and knowledge might be ideal for Luka and his development because he can learn a lot from having Kidd mentoring him every day in practice. Now it's up to the Mavs to get Kidd on board as their new head coach for the upcoming season.
