Philly fans’ NSFW messages to Ben Simmons

Philly fans are loving people, but they’re not the type to cross either. After Ben Simmons started skipping games for personal reasons, fans could not help but offer NSFW messages. So when did all that love turn into hate?

“F**k you, Ben Simmons!”

Philadelphia 76ers fan, who have turned their backs against Simmons last year, gave a piece of their mind following his trade to Brooklyn. When asked what they would say to Ben if he were in with them at that moment, the hate messages started to flood.

“‘Ben Simmons, you’re a piece of s**t!’
‘F**k you!’
‘How are you as soft as baby food?’”

Some said things that are unfit for publishing, so let’s leave it at that. Sixers fans are one of the most patient and loving people in the history of the NBA. Waiting for a number of years for The Process to complete is not for everyone. But on the verge of finally completing the championship puzzle, Simmons and the fans had a falling out. You can’t stop and wonder what happened to the love and support the city gave to Ben before.

Philly fans loved Simmons

Philly fans used to love Simmons, and who wouldn’t? The Australian’s skill set is unique for his 6’11” height. Unfortunately, his game lacks shooting, but aside from that, he can do almost everything else at an elite level. This wouldn't be such a problem a few decades ago, but we are in 2022 and not having a shot is a major liability for a perimeter player - Simmons always fancied himself a point guard.

Remember how Philly fans showered the former 2016 first pick overall with love and praises? Me neither - but they did. They supported every shot he made, but the problem was he didn't take a lot of them.

It's going to be fascinating to see how Simmons will deal with adversity in a Nets jersey. After all, it takes emotional maturity to accept criticism. Nets fans may be less demanding than 76ers fans, but that's not saying much. In the end, the fact remains Simmons didn't get better at anything since the day he got drafted.

Coming from a 7-month break, let's see if he (finally) improved his shot from anywhere on the court.
