Patrick Beverley got serious media attention during the playoff series between the Clippers and Warriors when at some times he was assigned to guard Kevin Durant. Even though Beverley showed grit and played hard on defense there was no answer for Durant during that series.
In the playoff series against the Clippers, Durant averaged 35.0 points per game on 56.7 percent shooting from the field and 40.0 percent from 3-point range which initiated a statement from Beverley that Kevin Durant is the best player in the NBA and the competition doesn't even come close.
"He is the best player in the NBA hands down. It's not close. He went for the kill. And I've guarded a lot of people. After I went home and I told my fans, he is the best player in the NBA, hands down. It's not close. He saw something, and he went at it every single time. "That's a killer mindset."
After the series against the Clippers, Durant continued with outstanding performances against the Rockets and is showing the entire world why he should be in the conversation for the best player in the world at the moment.
