MOST “IMPRESSIVE” GAMES WITHOUT MAKING A SINGLE SHOT

Tim-Hardaway-Andre-Miller-Darrick-Martin

It's not all about the number of points you score. It's also about how efficient you are in doing so. Well, these guys were not efficient. Not by a long shot. Here are some of the most “impressive” individual performances without making a single shot.

MOST POINTS SCORED

The title for most points scored without making a single shot goes to Darrick Martin. A 5-11 point-guard went 0/8 in a win vs. the Kings on December 14th, 1996. Despite having a horrific shooting display, Martin did put up 15 points of his own, with all of them coming from the charity stripe. He also had seven assists and a team-high +/- of +20.

MOST MINUTES PLAYED

Greg Ostertag is the guy who's seen the most playing time without knocking down a single field goal attempt. Ostertag played 48:43 minutes in Utah's win vs. the Sixers on January 6th, 1998, and had missed all five FGAs. He finished the game with only three points, but he did have 11 blocks to go along with it. So it wasn't a bad performance overall. He simply didn't have a great night shooting-wise.

HIGHEST GAME SCORE

Andre Miller's performance against the Nets back in '05 went down in history as one of the greatest all-around performances ever without a single shot made. Miller finished the game with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 6 steals as he led the Nuggets to a 9 points victory. It was the highest number of points scored by a team, with one player contributing none field goals made.

WORST GAME SCORE

Andre Miller's performance proves it; you can have a good game without making a single shot. However, it's an exception to the rule. And the rule is David Wesley's performance vs. New Jersey in '01. Wesley went 0/13 in 28 minutes of action. Set aside his poor shooting performance, but Wesley did nothing in two and a half quarters he had spent on the floor. He had four turnovers, and that's about it.

MOST SHOTS TAKEN

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Well, on December 27th, 1991, Tim Hardaway missed 100% of the shots he took. And he took a lot of them, 17 to be exact. It's the most shots taken without converting a single field goal attempt. Hardawaydished out 13 assists and had found a way to make a positive impact despite his poor shooting performance. And I mean historically poor.

MOST THREE-POINTS TAKEN

Luka Doncic is having an impressive NBA campaign. He's breaking records left and right, setting a new standard for European's who'll come after him. However, not all records he's set are impressive. On March 26th, 2019, Luka became the player who took most three-point shots without a single make. Doncic went 0/9 from behind the line, slightly staining his otherwise impressive triple-double performance vs. the Kings.

WORST GAME SCORE BY A ROOKIE

Most of the rookies go through an adjustment period before finding their groove in the NBA. It can get tough, but it's something you have to power through. Tom Gugliotta knows that feeling, especially after his performance against the Knicks back in '92. Googs went 0/8 from the field and hadn't scored a single point in 21 minutes of action. If that wasn't bad enough, he also had seven turnovers. Safe to say it was a bad outing for rookie forward.
